Just thought I'd throw in a quick review for the Sonic Farm Silkworm preamps, that I've been recently using;
Having worked at a Vancouver based music retailer for a number of years,
I’ve heard a significant number of preamps.
Certainly nothing quite like the SilkWorm.
Given the inherent limitations in the 500 series design, (lower voltage, and
current draw, etc), its quite astonishing how fat and present everything
sounds with this little guy.
A very musical tone with very little effort.
l can’t stress how much quality you get for your dollar.
A competing product (with a similar
design ethos) from another company sounded thin and uninspiring by
comparison.
On acoustic instruments, and vocals I was blown away.
It has really cool tone shaping capabilities.
I’ll leave you with this last thought;
When you buy the Silkworm,
Try the vibe switch..
You’ll be glad you did.
