I’ve got a bunch of obscure choir recordings on vinyl that I like to chop to use as vox samples. Problem is they were all recorded in large halls and have a ton of reverb, so when I go to use them they don’t have enough presence and sit way back in the mix. I’d like to find a good plugin to remove some verb and help bring them forward. Is RX De-Reverb by iZotope the consensus best option for this or is there other plugins/methods that could work well for this job?

Waves Abbey Road Plates are on sale everywhere now for $29 (or less probably at AudioDeluxe.com). Haven't tried it, but might be cool for that.

I've read great reviews, but some people say it's a bit of a CPU hog. I should really demo it.

The free Soundtoys plate's supposed to be right up there. If you can nab it, it could provide an upgrade path for when the full-sized plugin appears.

Just puttin' it out there, man.
